Our organization is actively seeking to oust Judge Klotz and to have John Judisch removed from the Polk County Attorney's Office. Remember, Klotz is the one who allowed things to start in the first place. And, keep in mind, she continues to rubber stamp order after order. This kind of Judicial irresponsiblity is not only wrong, IT IS DANGEROUS! If a Judge doesn't take the time to be certain that an agency such as the DHS has met the statutory standards necessary to obtain an order to relieve someone of their rights, then they should not sign them!

A further note about Judge Klotz, is that she actually deferred to John Judisch during a hearing at which Patricia Wengert was present! When Ms. Wengert asked her what the proceeding was about, Klotz responded that it was about whatever he [Judisch] said it was about. Now, I ask you, does that sound to you like the way a Judge ought to behave?

Lastly, Klotz is well into her 80's. Now, I certainly don't think that her age alone should be reason to oust her. However, when one considers the other factors I just mentioned, as well as a multitude of others, it becomes clear, that it is time for her to step down. To her credit, she has certainly accomplished a lot especially for a woman of her generation. But, the reality is that there comes a time when the best thing for everyone is change. Frankly, I believe that many attorneys, such as John Judisch (among others) take advantage of Klotz. They probably figure, that as long as she's in her position they will essentially have whatever they want signed. And, I'm sure Klotz enjoys the attention, and probably has concerns about being put "out to pasture". I also have concerns that perhaps Klotz suffers from some form of dementia herself. Certainly, as we age, we all begin to lose our memory and other mental processes...it's a fact of life.

Ousting Klotz, is not only a matter of common sense; it's a matter of civil responsiblity.

As many of you probably know, Judges are appointed, and it is possible to vote out a Judge in the state of Iowa. But, only four Iowa judges have been voted off the bench since the retention system was adopted more than 40 years ago to let voters decide if a judge should stay on the job. A majority vote is required to ensure a judge's retention. So, obviously, we need to make sure that she doesn't get her majority vote next time around. I would also like to put together a petition for the ousting of Klotz, perhaps she will realize that she needs to step down, and do so voluntarily without having to endure the humiliation of being removed from her position.

Judisch of course, has repeatedly, violated my Grandmother's rights, as well as others. He has taken a particularly personal stance in this case. A person in his position, should NEVER take a case personally...THAT is dangerous. That said, of course, John Judisch is NOT an elected official like his Boss John Sarcone. Our goal here is to obtain enough signatures on our petition to convey to John Sarcone that he should rid his office of him.
