Since my grandmother was first faced with the Iowa Department of Human Services interfering in her life, she relentlessly voiced her opinion that she wants to be left alone. At no time did any of the people who are supposedly trying to help her, ask her what she wanted...AT NO TIME!

And, since she was forced into nursing homes, she continued to voice these opinions. As a means of keeping my grandmother quiet, and controlling her behavior, DR. ROBERT CONNER authorized the FLEUR HEIGHTS nursing home to INJECT my GRANDMOTHER with DRUGS against her will.

When my grandmother told these people what she thought...that she wanted to go home; that she wanted to see her daughter; that she was being held prisoner; the nurses referred to this as "agitation", and just shot her up with Atavan as per Conner's order!...Scary as as it seems, this was the reality of my Grandma's life.

First the DHS took control of her life; then they forced her into a nursing home; then they took away her family; then they shut her up with invasive injections...I ask you, just what country is this anyway?

Later Grandma was moved to CLC in POLK CITY, where Dr. Gruenwald was charged with her care. In court, he said that he had only seen her once, and that he didn't change her medicines...he said that he keeps new patients on the current drugs for the first 30 days. He also said in court under oath, that he doesn't change the dosages. What's frightening is that this man is supposed to be a physician, and yet he just blindly kept on with Conner's recommendations. He hasn't even drawn his own independent conclusions.

When one looks at history, they will find examples of physicians being used as a means of legitimacizing immoral and illegal deeds. The Nazis during WWII did the very same thing in the implementation of concentration camp exterminations. Further, they used them to bring a sense of legitimacy to different medical experiments and other horrific atrocities, committed against the Jews and other perceived "enemies" of the state.

Here in our country, the motivations are a bit different. Here, money is the prime motivator. As the state through its DHS "protection" sends an ever-increasing number of people to nursing homes, who do you think will be reaping the benefits? Certainly the numerous state bureaucracies involved will benefit from increasing funding...but also the Doctors, and the Nursing Homes themselves! How many patients has Dr. Conner gained as a result of these new policies? The last thing any of these people want, is to have their boat rocked! So, naturally, they do what they have to in order to preserve the appearance of legitimacy in what they are doing. My grandma is only one of many victims of this.

My grandma was not even allowed to see her own doctors. This only caused us to be more suspicious. If these people truly were concerned with her well-being, then wouldn't it seem logical that they would want her to see the doctors who were familiar with her medical history? No, instead they put her in the "care" of people who essentially work for them, though not officially.

All physicians take the Hippocratic oath, a major part of which is to "do no harm". But as it stands, that is exactly what both Conner AND Gruenwald have done, caused grandma harm...I ask you, is it right to drug an elderly woman up to keep her quiet? Is it right to not look at the whole picture when treating an individual? Did these men for one second even stop to think about why my grandmother was upset? I can't imagine going through all of the training required to become a doctor, only to wind up drugging people against their will and then at the end of the day collecting a fat check...I just wouldn't be able to live with myself, and I don't see how these "men" do either.
